Founding director of Quadrat Capital is Matthias Woestmann, a former TV-journalist and political correspondent of the German public network ARD. He worked as a TV-reporter and anchor for the ARD. In 1993 he became correspondent for South Asia and head of the ARD-office in New Delhi. He covered the economic awakening of India, the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan and a range of religious and ethnic conflicts in Sri Lanka, Kashmir and Pakistan.
After his return to Germany he built his investment vehicle Quadrat Capital. His experience in politics helped him to identify opportunities in the energy sector. Because of growing instability in international politics and financial markets Matthias Woestmann is now focussing his activities on global macro strategies.
